Our intro to sailing course of 4 hours gets you in the boat for a full day of sailing on the bay!
You will be sailing on a 30 - 32 foot sailboat with an instructor on board. A lot of this intro course will focus on participation rather than actual learning. Because we only have 4 hours on the water - it will be more exciting to get out and sail under the guidance of the instructor, rather than spend too much time talking about the fundamentals of sailing. The instructor will go over safety issues and lightly touch on points of sail, line handling, steering. You'll have a chance to steer and participate fully in sailing the boat - which is great because you don't need to have a good knowledge of sailing to do this!
If you crave more, you'll be set to continue an intensive sailing course at a later time.
Intro to Sailing Dates:
March 13, April 11, April 24, May 8, May 23, June 5 & June 27
Time: 12pm - 4pm - please show up at 11:45 am
Cost: $150 for 4 hour clinic, limited to 6 participants per clinic
What to Bring:
- Lunch
- Sunglasses and a hat
- Sunscreen (30 spf is recommended)
- Boat shoes or light soled shoes only- do not bring shoes with black
rubber on the bottoms as they will mark the boats. West Marine Stores
carry their own brand of boat shoes that are inexpensive and top quality.
- Multiple layered outdoor clothing. It does get cold at times on the
bay. Bring foul weather gear if you have it.
